Carteret County Public Schools Names New Transportation Director
(Beaufort, NC) Carteret County Public Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Joseph Guthrie of Marshallberg as the district's new Transportation Director, effective December 1st. Mr. Guthrie has dedicated 24 years to the school system and brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as Transportation Shop Foreman for the past twelve years. With a technical degree in Auto Diesel Technology, Mr. Guthrie began his career with CCPS as a bus mechanic in 2000.
"As our new Transportation Director, Mr. Joseph Guthrie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his 24 years dedicated to transportation within Carteret County Public Schools," said Superintendent Richie Paylor. "Joseph is a loyal and valued member of our team, and we are confident that his dedication and qualifications will serve our school system well. I am certain he will do an excellent job in this new role, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for our students each day."
Mr. Guthrie will succeed Mr. Harry Brooks, who has been the Transportation Director since 2020 and will be retiring at the end of November. The district is grateful for Mr. Brooks’ commitment to the safe and efficient transportation of students and extends best wishes to him in his retirement.
In accepting his new position, Mr. Guthrie shared, "I am honored to take on the role of Transportation Director for Carteret County Public Schools. As a native of Carteret County, I began my career with CCPS years ago as a bus mechanic. My experience most recently as Transportation Shop Foreman has prepared me well for this new role, and I believe I can be a valuable asset in further strengthening our transportation department. I am committed to making improvements that best serve the students of CCPS and ensure their safe travel."
