On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Beaufort Town Manager Todd Clark announced his resignation from the
Town of Beaufort. Clark’s last day will be August 3, 2024.

“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve as Town Manager,” said Clark. “I cannot say enough good
things about our town staff and the positive leadership of the Board. Beaufort is headed in the right
direction.”

“We are deeply saddened to hear that Todd is resigning,” said Mayor Sharon Harker. “His announcement
is unfortunate, as the town has greatly benefited from his 30-plus years of municipal experience. As a
community, we are truly grateful for his professionalism and commitment to the Town of Beaufort, which
have been exemplary, making him a tough act to follow. On a personal note, I will miss Todd greatly. He
has been wonderful to work with and was an excellent fit for Beaufort. I wish him and his family well on
their new journey.”

Clark started with the Town in January 2022. Prior experience included nearly fourteen years as City
Manager of Newton, N.C. Additional management experience included three years as Town Manager of
Maiden, and four years as Town Manager of Catawba, N.C.

“The board now faces the challenge of finding a replacement, but I am confident that together, we will be
able to do what is right for Beaufort,” Harker said.

The Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 26 at the Beaufort
Train Depot, 614 Broad Street. This will be a special meeting, pursuant to North Carolina General Statute
§ 160A-71 (b), open to the public for observation, to discuss the recent resignation of the Town Manager
and to discuss the next steps. The Board may go into closed session pursuant to 143-318.11 (a)(6) to
discuss personnel matters.

This special meeting will be immediately followed by a previously scheduled Special Meeting
