Kathryn Metts selected as Morehead City Economic Development Officer

Morehead City Manager Christopher Turner has selected Kathryn Metts to fill the City's Economic Development Officer role. Metts will begin her tenure on November 4th, 2024.

Metts currently serves as the Director for Downtown Morehead City, Inc., a non-profit focused on preservation and vitality of the City's Downtown District, a position she has held since 2023, in addition to her progressive leadership roles with the organization since 2021. 

Manager Turner said, “This is a key position for the city and region. In recent years, Morehead City has served as the lead and catalyst for regional growth. We continue to lean forward as an attractor and destination of choice for businesses and investment through smart growth. Kathryn Metts stood out among a very competitive field of candidates. Her direct knowledge, experience and networking skills, as well her proven track record of success working with local, regional, state and federal partners is the right formula to champion our city as a regional attractor for smart development.  I am confident she will advance our mission forward as Morehead City leads the way in purposeful citywide growth through economic development and economic vitality."

Metts holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, and she is a current Morehead City resident with prior international experience in Bilbao, Spain, as well as having lived and worked abroad in Beccles, England, United Kingdom.
