I currently hold the position of Executive
Director at Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity, overseeing operations in
Carteret and Onslow Counties. Having marked my fifth anniversary with the
affiliate in February, my tenure began with a challenging trial-by-fire
experience during Hurricane Florence. The aftermath of this natural disaster
left our service area devastated, with numerous homes still in need of repair.
Prior to joining Habitat, I dedicated a decade of service as the
Outreach Coordinator at Matthew 25 Outreach of St. James UMC in Newport, NC. In
this role, I facilitated essential support, including food and financial
assistance, to families in the Newport area. It was during this time that I
witnessed firsthand the subpar living conditions offered by landlords under the
guise of "affordable rentals." This experience fueled my commitment
to working with families to secure Habitat mortgages, fostering stable and
dignified housing solutions.
Before my involvement with non-profit organizations, I navigated
diverse professional landscapes. With a background ranging from retail
management to office administration for Morton Buildings, as well as
telecommunications management roles with MCI and Winstar Communications, I
bring a wealth of experience encompassing various industries. While I jest that
I know a little about everything and a lot about nothing, my genuine passion
lies in serving others.
On a personal note, I am happily married to my husband of 36
years, and together we spent 23 years in the Air Force, traversing the globe.
We are proud parents of two grown daughters, one of whom is currently pursuing
her education in college. Through the tapestry of my life experiences, one
constant has emerged – my unwavering commitment to service.
