This summer the American Music Festival premiers
a new series - Hot Jazz on the Crystal
Coast -with four concerts which will be held in Joslyn Hall in the McGee Building, Carteret Community
College:
Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 7:00 PM -- Vaughn Ambrose Sextet
If July
isn't hot enough for you, the Washington, DC-based Vaughn Ambrose
Sextet will warm things up. The sextet features Vaughn Ambrose on tenor
and soprano saxophones, Kenny Rittenhouse on trumpet, Shannon Gunn on trombone,
Deante James on piano, Zack Pride on bass and Angel Bethea on drums.
Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7:00 PM – John
Williams and Friends
The Newport,
NC-based John Williams Band is a 13-piece, dynamic music ensemble that plays Contemporary
Christian Urban Jazz. These musical experts play a mixture of styles
from Jazz
R&B, Samba, Latin Jazz, and heartfelt ballads, to straight-up Jazz
Fusion. The
soaring horn lines, tight vocals, and rich rhythmic palette will not
disappoint.
Friday, July 12, 2024 at 7:00 PM – Matt Leder Quartet
The New
Orleans-based Matt Leder Quartet features trumpet, guitar, bass and drums.
Saturday July 13, 2024 at 7:00 PM -- Vocalist Janinah Burnett joins
the Greensboro, NC-based Steve Haines Trio, comprised of Greg Hyslop on guitar, bandleader Steve Haines
on double bass and Alston Harris on drums.
In addition to the above concerts, many of the
artists will be conducting educational presentations for area students.
