Located on Bogue Sound, Carteret Community College was founded in 1963 and is one of 58 institutions comprising the North Carolina Community College System. Carteret CC is accredited and offers more than 90 associate’s degrees, diplomas, and certificates that prepare students for university transfer or immediate entrance into the workforce. At Carteret CC, we also offer short-term, non-degree programs in healthcare, public safety, transportation, skilled trades, and more. Non-degree programs include customized training, small business support, and basic skills courses such as high school equivalency preparation and English as a Second Language. Our mission is to show appreciation and honor the service and sacrifice of the men and women who wear and have worn the Coast Guard uniform by unifying Carteret County with the Coast Guard family and amplifying the importance of this relationship.

The purpose of the Carteret County Public School Foundation is to promote excellence in education by supporting students, educators, schools and educational programs.The Carteret County Public School Foundation (CCPSF) is dedicated to fostering educational excellence within Carteret County School System by securing financial support from the community and corporate partners.

Founded in 2000, our mission has been to provide and sustain district-wide opportunities, funding teacher training, emergency assistance, and classroom programs not covered by state funds. Through the generosity of our donors, CCPSF has received and invested over $2.42 (as of 2024) million into innovative programs in our schools, in addition to assistance programs for our students and employees.

Annually, we proudly offer 4-year tuition scholarships to deserving seniors from each of our three High Schools, ensuring a future generation of teachers for Carteret County through our Big Rock Teaching Fellows Program.
